Cutting Edge 2017 Addiction is Everybody's Business was held in Wellington at Te Papa Museum 6-9 September.
Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand, Asian Family Services and Mapu Maia all attended this conference.
On 6 September, Asian Family Services had host the first of kind Asian Pre Cutting Edge Conference Workshop sponsored by MatuaRaki. There were about 25 people attended from the mental health and addiction sector. not only Asian workforce but also some of the mainstream clicians were very interested to know AFS and the model of our practice and how to work with Asian clients. Asian Family Services Director, Kelly Feng had presented AFS overall services, public health approach. how we engage with Asian communities and working together to break the barriers of our challenge work.
AFS clinical practice leader Choi Foong Kew presented the model of practice and case study which has bring the group together to discuss some of the issues and barriers facing to Asian.
AFS wants to thank CEO of Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand---Paula and Eru support for the opening of AFS pre-conference. This pre-conference is a starting point of sharing AFS working with the whole health sector, and also sharing the way we do things differently that better engage with Asians and better outcome. AFS will continue to contribute to the sector and enrich the diverse way of achieving the same outcome and wellbeing.
