This document introduces three keynote speakers whose work connects research with real-world wellbeing outcomes for Asian communities in Aotearoa, spanning gambling harm, arts-based wellbeing, and large-scale community research.
Keynote Speakers' Bios:
Dr Simone Rodda (AUT) – Associate Professor with 20+ years in addiction-related roles, specialising in gambling harm and help-seeking; she’s also supported Asian Family Services as a subject-matter expert and helped develop trainings like Respond to Gambling Harm.
Dr Ying Wang (University of Auckland) – Research fellow focused on improving health and wellbeing through the power of arts, with insight into the experiences of Asian immigrants, international students, and refugees; recipient of a 2024 Royal Society Te Apārangi Mana Tūāpapa Future Leader Fellowship.
Dr Andrew Zhu (Trace Research) – Research director and lead author of the New Zealand Asian Wellbeing and Mental Health Survey, bringing 20+ years’ experience translating research into inclusive, culturally responsive policy and practice.
